Riad Bel Haj

The rooms were comfortable, cleaned every day, and the air conditioning came in handy. The riad sits in a quiet spot, still close enough to the medina for the souks and other activities. Breakfast was delicious, and they could serve it early before checkout. Mohammed was especially kind and efficient, making sure everything went smoothly. I’d definitely come back.

At Road Bel Haj, the staff made our stay with their warm welcome and great service. We had a really good time there.

The staff’s communication felt pretty limited, and there was barely a goodbye when we left. It made the stay a little unwelcoming, though maybe there was a language barrier. A smile would have helped. Getting back in was also a hassle: the door was always locked, so we sometimes had to wait to be let inside. I understand the security reason, but other riads we visited in Morocco handled entry more smoothly, with key boxes, for example. The place is easy to reach by taxi and well located in Marrakech. It was clean and tidy, the room was neat, and breakfast was good. The rooftop view is limited by high walls, but it was still pleasant to sit there in the evenings. Despite those frustrations, it was a decent stay for us.

The garden was pretty and had a lovely rose scent, and after a long travel day we appreciated being offered tea. We chose one of the larger rooms. It wasn't huge, but comfortable enough for us and our oversized suitcases. The other rooms we glimpsed looked quite small, so an upgrade may be worth considering. Everything was clean, with a hair dryer, shampoo, body wash, and effective air conditioning. The removable shower head had good pressure. There was no TV, which I may simply have overlooked, but it wasn't a problem since we had a laptop. The internet worked well for us. We used their airport transport and were glad we did. The intersection nearby is very busy and chaotic, so it helped to have a driver who knew where to go and someone from the hotel guide us in. It cost €15. They met us at the car and helped with my bag, then carried our big bags upstairs and out to the car when we left. That was so generous. If I went back, I’d pack almost nothing and save room for shopping!
