La Villa Des Orangers - Relais & Châteaux

The riad felt like a calm little retreat from the busy city, with understated luxury and everything well taken care of. The staff were consistently warm, polite, and helpful. From the concierge helping us plan activities before arrival to the smooth check-in and attentive help during our stay, the care was there throughout. We also loved the spa treatments. They even arranged an early breakfast for our morning flight, which was a thoughtful touch. We won't forget this stay, and would definitely recommend it.

The location is a real plus, very central and close to Marrakesh, la mamounia, and the tourist hotspots. The pool was lovely, including the beautiful one on the rooftop, and the staff were friendly. The rooms, though, were very dark, with not even a bathroom plug. The gym had just one treadmill, a few weights, and a yoga mat. Breakfast service was slow and incompetent, although the staff were still friendly. Overall, a nice hotel.

The staff were friendly, the location is excellent, and we had a good stay overall. Still, for this price I expected more, especially since we were there for our honeymoon. I had mentioned the occasion several times when booking, but nobody acknowledged it or asked about it. It wasn't a huge deal, and I could have brought it up myself, but I expected the hotel to inquire. Our next hotel, the Royal Monsour Casablanca, surprised us with a bath full of rose petals while we were at dinner, which felt special. Here, the room smelled of cigarette smoke from the restaurant instead of oranges, which wasn't very romantic. We had booked a rooftop terrace suite. It was large, but the living area felt cut off from the rest, so the layout made it hard to use. Our suitcases were crammed into the bedroom and the end tables were small. It just didn't feel very luxurious. I went in with high expectations after reading reviews, and came away a bit disappointed. There are plenty of nearby choices if you're after a boutique luxury stay.

The property is surprisingly quiet for its location, just a ten-minute walk from the Medina. It has a gorgeous pool, and lovely courtyards with water features, citrus plants, and rustic furniture that give it a Moroccan feel. The food was great, and the hospitality was warm.
