Riad Dar El Masa

For 113 euros a night, this was a bad experience, and the price felt far too high for the place. At 50-60 euros a night I might have found it okay, and at 50 euros a night I would have given it four stars. For that price, it isn't worth it. I'd rather pay 100 euros a night for a hotel in the modern area and have all the comfort I need. The rooms were dirty and there was no heat at night. The night shift guy told us he didn't care and just worked there. We asked if breakfast could be ready just 30 minutes earlier and were told no. They offered only cold coffe, though the lady cooking eventually made us breakfast. This isn't four stars at all. The service needs to be better, the rooms cleaner, and the towels weren't changed at all, not even every two days.

We spent six days here, my first stay with my adult daughter. The staff were helpful enough, and we enjoyed the tours and Nouba restaurant in Marrakech and Essaouria. The riad is old, but manageable. Our twin room was downstairs in the courtyard and had a moldy smell; the upstairs rooms seemed better. The Medina neighborhood felt very local and poor, and might feel a bit scary to some. The souks, big market, restaurants, and tour options are all within walking distance. Would I book again? Maybe, if we got an upstairs room.

They looked after me so well and made me feel like part of their little family. I’m very grateful. It’s a small, homey riad, and the staff are genuinely friendly, kind, and helpful. Thanks for helping guests feel safe and at home.

The team were so warm and welcoming, and the location was great. It was quiet at night, too. Our ground-floor room was another story: damp enough that we had to dry our clothes at the next place, with a musty smell and no airflow from the courtyard. In the mornings, guests gathered right outside for check-in and before day trips. At 90€/night, I didn’t feel it was worth the price. The other rooms looked nice, though.
