Riad Dar Lilas

A cute, basic Riad at a budget friendly price, with spacious rooms and really kind hosts. It's way up in the north of the medina, about a 10-minute walk from some great local BBQ places, like BBQ yousef. There's even a small pool to cool off in.

On our first day in Marrakech, Yussef helped us find the hotel. If you get lost, send him a whatsapp and he'll come and find you. He also showed us a public hammam near the Riad, where you can enjoy a steam bath with hot and cold water among local people. The beds were comfortable, there's a swimming pool, and the area was quiet at night. Our stay in Riad Dar Lilas was amazing, and it was a pleasure to be there.

Youssef was incredibly kind and was there when we needed him, but also gave us space when we wanted quiet. We spent a lovely week here, with a peaceful break from Marrakech's bustle. The price is really good for what you get: a nice rooftop, a cool pool, and delicious breakfast. The cleaning lady is a gem, and the cute little tortoise in the Riad made us happy every day. At first the Riad was hard to find, and some pesky teenagers scammed us by guiding us there. We hadn't seen Youssef's earlier message offering to meet us at the taxi drop-off, so check your inbox or message him before you arrive. He'll happily show you the way during your stay too. Despite the scam, the area is very safe, so there's no need to worry.

The Riad is very clean, though the doors are thin and you can hear everything going on inside. Yusef is an incredibly helpful and considerate host. When we got back from our desert tour at 8pm, he met us where the bus dropped us off, walked us to the riad, and bought us two big bottles of water. He really goes above and beyond. I'd stay here again if I come back.
