Riad Des Remparts Guest House

The staff were kind and full of helpful advice, and the riad has a lot of charm. We slept well in a very good bed, and breakfast included tasty local dishes. It’s great value, too. The welcome was extraordinary, with couscous served on site, and the central location stayed quiet.

The neighborhood didn’t feel very nice or safe to us. People kept following us, and getting into the riad meant knocking and waiting for someone to open the door. We booked a trip through the host, but the guide asked for extra money at the end even though we’d already paid. We complained and eventually got the money back, though the riad staff member was much less friendly afterward. Inside, our downstairs room was noisy, with every sound from the riad carrying through. It wasn’t cleaned after the first day, and we got no fresh towels. There was no window, so the towels stayed damp, and the rusty bathroom rack left stains on anything hung there. There were lots of bugs, too. On arrival, we found hair on the pillows and sheets, and the toilet seat was broken. They offered us another room, but we preferred ours. Breakfast was very dry and almost the same each day.

The riad is lovely and clean, and the food they serve is incredible. It’s central, with a short walk to Medina. We felt at home from the moment we arrived, thanks to Adil and Imad. They were always ready to help with anything and made us feel welcome and comfortable, going above and beyond. Thanks so much for such a great stay. When we’re back in Marrakesh, they’ll be the first people we call for a room!

Good value in a handy location, and the staff were very friendly. The tea was nice, too. I’d encourage them to get a printer working. Passengers need to print boarding passes, and doing it at a cyber cafe at the last minute is a hassle and costs extra.
