We left after one night, even though we’d paid for more. The bathroom and kitchen were dirty, the room was damp, there were bugs in the bed, and the sheets were dirty and not warm enough. I can’t remember the last time I gave a one-star review. We booked through HOSTELWORLD at Layla Rouge. They told us there was an electricity problem and they had to move us, then finally admitted the hostel was full. They brought us here and we had no other option. Staff also tried to charge us twice the taxes, which didn’t work. This wasn’t my first Rodeo.

Great hostel, with friendly staff and a host. I stayed for a couple of nights, and my room was clean and well kept. Nothing to complain about.

The staff were nice, no complaints there. At night, though, the place felt very dim and didn’t have much of a social vibe, and the rooms were freezing. January may not be the best time to stay here as a solo traveller. I think coming with a group might have made it a better experience, and I’m sure there’s more of a vibe in summer.

Riad Dia has a lot of character and a social atmosphere, which made it one of my favorite hostel stays in Marrakech. Mohammad deserves a special mention. He made things easier by helping with buses, directions, and restaurant suggestions, and even carrying bags up the stairs. A great choice for solo travelers or anyone who wants an easy way to meet people.

I’d strongly advise female travellers to avoid Riad Dia Marrakech. The facilities were poor, and the conduct of one staff member made it feel unsafe and uncomfortable. I was put in a 9-bed dorm even though I’d booked a 6-bed room. The mattress was broken and uncomfortable, and 11 people shared one toilet and shower. I stayed three nights because it was already paid for and I was travelling on a budget. My main concern is the inappropriate and unprofessional behaviour of Mustapha. I met a solo female traveller who felt extremely uncomfortable around him. He acted in a creepy, intrusive way during her stay, then found her on social media after she left and sent inappropriate messages, including “you must come back to see me, I know you find me attractive.” He kept messaging until she blocked him. This is unacceptable and shows a serious lack of respect and professionalism toward guests, particularly women travelling alone.
