We stayed in the Douiria, an apartment inside the Riad that worked really well for our family or a small group. It has two double bedrooms with private bathrooms, a living room, and a rooftop terrace with two lounge areas, plus direct access to a pool. The Riad is wonderful in the Medina, within walking distance of most tourist sights. Abdou and his team took great care of us and made the stay even better.

The concierge was genuinely sweet, understanding, and excellent, and the breakfast was fresh and simple, though it didn't arrive on time. The service and communication felt kind and sincere. Still, the website and Instagram photos show a nicer version of the place than we found. We left for a hotel after one night. The owner, reached by the concierge, refused to refund any part of our three-night booking. She said the rooms were clean and pointed to an influencer she'd invited who liked the bathtub and took photos there. I found that hard to take as an unbiased opinion. The riad itself is attractive, with refurbished, painted walls, but our room had a large bathtub in old stucco-like material. The cracks made it look dirty, and glassless windows, typical in Marrakech, left the room really cold. The owner's solution was a tiny electric heater on the floor beside the bug spray, in a wet area. The main problem for me was the location, followed by the unrenovated amenities. Like many first-time visitors, I wanted to stay in the Medina for its authentic feel. But there's no direct road access, and you have to walk four or five minutes through a covered food market and side streets. After five days in Marrakech, I felt it was among the worst areas of the Medina: dirty, smelly, and sketchy by day, downright unsafe at night even with my partner. Dresses or heels for dinner weren't an option, so the magical evenings I expected never happened.

The view from the terraces was superb, over the Medina rooftops with the Atlas Mountains in the distance, and it was such a peaceful, comfortable place to sit. We had breakfast there and dinner on two evenings. My friends and I stayed five nights at Dar Housnia and loved every minute. It's calm, beautifully designed, and spacious, with clean, nicely decorated rooms. The team made the stay special. Mustapha, Bouchra, Ali, the housekeepers, and Rachida the cook were all outstanding. They helped with everything from directions to restaurant bookings. Rachida made us an amazing lamb tajin and what I thought was the best couscous in town. I'd absolutely recommend staying here and eating in.

We had such a good time that we'll book again if we make it back to Marrakesh. Eleven of us took every room for three nights, and the staff were fantastic and attentive throughout. The rooms were spacious, beautiful, and well equipped. The Riad is roomy enough that a group doesn't feel crowded together, while still being central enough to walk to all the Medina attractions. Definitely recommend it.

A very peaceful place in the Medina, with lovely hospitality. Adbou, Bouchra, and the rest of the team made us feel welcome and looked after us so well. Thanks so much. We'd happily return and recommend this Riad to anyone visiting Marrakech.
