Riad Ekla Boutique Hotel

The Riad arranged our airport transfers and sent someone to meet us since the building is off the main road. It’s in a handy spot, a few minutes’ walk from the main areas. Our room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast had little changes each day and always came with a smile. We ate dinner there our first night, then tried the many nearby places on the other evenings. All the staff were friendly, welcoming, and happy to answer our questions.

This was one of the worst stays I’ve had, and I feel I should warn other travelers. From the first night, rats scratched inside the walls and kept us from sleeping, and there were cockroaches in the room. To me, that points to serious hygiene problems and very poor maintenance. The room was shockingly cramped and nothing like the photos or online description. The advertising felt completely misleading. When we tried to raise the issues, there was no professionalism or accountability: they wouldn’t listen or try to fix things, and refused any refund, even though the conditions were unacceptable. The policies were vague and seemed designed to trap guests. I was also concerned that the place frequently changes its name and location, which makes its history and reviews hard to track. That’s a major red flag and gives the strong impression of a business trying to escape its reputation. Do not book this place.

The streets and neighborhood around the property can feel a little chaotic, but once inside, we found everything wonderful. The riad itself was beautiful, and we enjoyed spending time on the terrace. Breakfast was good, and the location near the main attractions made getting around easy. The staff were very nice, especially Amine. He gave us explanations, guided us along the way, and was such a pleasant, friendly person.

Moustapha at reception was my first contact, and he went above and beyond even before I arrived. The hotel was perfectly located, about a 10-15 minute walk from the souks but tucked away enough to feel private. From the moment we got there, he welcomed us and made us feel at home. Whenever we needed something, he was ready to help. We arranged all our excursions through him, and I’m grateful for the experience. I haven’t had service this good anywhere else in the world. The team really wants you to enjoy Marrakech, and we felt that.
