The restaurant was a big plus, and the staff really went out of their way for us. Since we have mobility issues, they brought our meals from the third-floor restaurant down to the ground floor. They also accommodated my wife's lactose and gluten intolerance with special food made using cornflour. The riad is traditional and right in the old center, though the area looks scruffy and it can be hard to find. People nearby were actually quite nice. I'd happily recommend it to adults wanting an “authentic” holiday.

The most frustrating part came at checkout: we were charged 30 MAD for a bottle of water without being told beforehand. That felt steep when a nearby shop sells six one-liter bottles for under 10 MAD. Breakfast was hit or miss, mostly local items, despite the listing mentioning eggs and croissants. We had to keep asking for eggs for three days before they appeared. The “pool” is tiny, about the size of two cot beds. Riad Hafssa gave us a glimpse of life in the Old City, and its location was handy for the markets and fresh produce stalls. Staff were approachable and eventually fixed our room allocation so we could stay on the same floor. Parking is in an outside lot a few minutes away and costs 70 MAD a day. Google Maps can be hard to follow here without local knowledge.

The taxi pricing left us disappointed. The manager quoted one fare when we booked and another at checkout. We understand the hotel needs to earn money, but local taxis quoted 100-200 MAD less, and we felt tourists were being taken advantage of. We were only told the taxi was private and hired just for us for the day after we questioned the price. We did enjoy the Riad and the staff were friendly, which makes the lack of honesty a shame.
