Riad Julia

We’d love to return and would definitely stay at Riad Julia again. The restored traditional decor was stunning and made the visit feel like an authentic Moroccan experience. We ate breakfast there every day, and our final evening meal at the riad was the best food we had during our stay in Morocco. The whole team were friendly, thoughtful, and helpful. Karim and Muhammad welcomed us, showed us around the area, and helped us settle in and make the most of our wish list for the few days we had. Karim’s warmth, humor, and knowledge of several languages meant he could greet most guests in their own language or one they could both speak. His advice on things to do and see helped make the trip a memorable experience.

The breakfast was especially good: really tasty, brought quickly, and with different options available on request. Abdou greeted us right away and stayed friendly and welcoming throughout the visit. He was incredibly helpful and charismatic. The location was superb, and the room felt authentic and very different from a conventional hotel room, which I loved. Security was reassuring, with a gate further out, the main entrance door, and a separate room lock, and we were given keys to each. The place looks good, but most areas could use some TLC, especially the rooftop terrace, which felt a little scruffy. The bed wasn’t very comfortable, and the AC wasn’t strong enough for the Moroccan summer heat. We also noticed a few other people working behind the scenes to make guests’ stays better. There were some downsides, but I’d recommend visiting.

We had a really pleasant stay in the old town Medina. The staff were helpful throughout and always ready to welcome us with a free cup of tea. The rooms were clean, they clearly care about the guest experience, and breakfast was delicious. First-time visitors to Morocco may find the area a little unsafe at first, but it’s actually quite tourist-friendly and nice to walk around at night.

We could walk to the main place in about 15 minutes, depending on our pace and route. The riad was clean and quiet, with a small pool and a rooftop terrace. Mustafa was the main staff member looking after us during our stay, and he and the team were polite, attentive, and helpful. Breakfast was good. There’s no buffet, but you can change your order each day for some variety and to help limit food waste. Definitely recommended!
