We were a group of women travelling together, and we absolutely loved La Douiria. Naïma was friendly and kept the house spotless every day; she also made breakfast and, if you wanted, delicious dinners. Eugenio, the owner, put us in touch with Youssef Montasir, who picked us up from the airport and helped arrange a wonderful spa, trips to the Atlas Mountains, and local guided tours. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly at any hour. Riad La Douiria is a carefully and elegantly refurbished house with every comfort. It’s in the medina, right in the best central part of Marrakesh, just a minute from the main sights.

I had booked four nights, from 17 to 20 April 2020, but had to cancel because of covid 19: travel to Marocco was prohibited and there were no flights. The owner kept 50 percent of the booking and never answered our messages. Not honest!

Coming back here at night felt dangerous, and the location is bad. The place was very dirty and nowhere near European standards. Be careful, there are much cleaner options in better locations. Don’t ruin your vacation.

A plunge pool and two terraces make it easy to unwind here, and the breakfasts are generous if you ask for one. The service is personal, and the riad was warm, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Its decor is beautiful, with lovely rooms that have an Arabian Nights feel and make you want to drift off. The souks and Jemaa el-Fna square are close by. I’d recommend staying here without hesitation.

Please do yourself a favor and pick another riad in this wonderful country. They argue over every euro or dirham, and there are cockroaches in the kitchen, so don’t leave plates out. The transfer arrangements were a mess too: they agree on one price, then suddenly say something is wrong and change the amount. They even threaten you with the police if you won’t pay the new price. The people running this place are awful.
