Riad La Perle Rouge

Khalid was incredibly helpful and really went out of his way for us. The staff were amazing, breakfast was delicious, and I loved all the colours in this beautiful riad.

The trouble started with the payment and transfers. My credit card flagged the transfer, so I explained to the riad employee that it had been initiated but was on hold for verification and might take a few hours. I showed screenshots and receipts for the pending transaction. They still cancelled my reservation and told me to leave within 10 minutes or they would call the police. They also tried to charge tourist tax for my children even though the information says children are exempt. Even getting my luggage was difficult. Possibly the worst experience I’ve had, and I would not recommend this riad to foreign travelers. If I could, I’d give it negative stars.

After travelling for more than 19 hours with children, being accused of scamming and threatened by the owner was awful. He seemed drunk and belligerent. We had a confirmed Booking.com reservation, but when the desk attendant couldn’t find it, the welcome quickly turned sour. They eventually located the booking, but no one apologized for how we’d been treated. We stayed one night, then left early because the atmosphere felt so uncomfortable and moved to another riad. At the new place, we were finally treated with kindness and respect. In my experience, Bruno and Ghizlane were not hospitable or kind. I would never recommend Riad La Perle Rouge, especially for a family with children. Save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else.

You walk down a narrow street, ring the bell, and suddenly find this magnificent place. The outdoor areas are terrific, and there are so many of them. The pool was just the right temperature. It was a pleasure staying in this clean, beautifully maintained oasis in the middle of Marrakech. The staff were fantastic, and it’s clear the owners and staff take great pride in the riad. I’m running out of English adjectives for how wonderful it was. If you’re in Marrakech, don’t miss it. Honestly, 15 out of 10 😀
