Riad La Petite Majorelle

The excursion price was the most upsetting part of our stay. We booked a desert evening show through the hotel, with camel riding and a buggy ride, and were told it would cost 16€ per person. They asked us to pay after the trip. When we got back, they charged us 60€ instead. Others in our group paid 150 Moroccan dirhams, around 15€, for the same experience, and the excursion is available on Booking.com and GetYourGuide for around 15€. It felt deliberately misleading, as though they waited until it was over to demand much more, when we had little choice but to pay. You can’t quote one price and then charge almost four times as much. It felt like a complete scam. We also had breakfast included, and on our last day we had to leave at 6:30 AM for an excursion that wasn’t arranged by the hotel. We asked in advance for takeaway breakfast and staff agreed, but nothing was prepared or given to us. We left without the breakfast we’d paid for. Service was poor from the start. Check-in took far too long despite arriving at the agreed time, and staff seemed indifferent, unhelpful, and unable to give us a proper welcome or clear information about the facilities. The hotel is far from the city center, attractions, restaurants, and shops, so getting anywhere took extra time and transport. The stay also fell short of our expectations for cleanliness. My partner and I travel often and have visited many countries. We’re generally understanding of different standards and cultures, but we’ve never had this combination of poor service, lack of professionalism, dishonesty, and disregard for guests. We were shocked and disappointed. I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it. There are better, more trustworthy options in Marrakech.

The hotel has a charming feel, and Zachariah was amazing and so helpful. There’s also a great cat, like in many riads. Fish house al aachabe is a great fish restaurant about 15 minutes away.

The place is beautiful, and everyone is friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I’ll definitely come back on my next adventure.

I spent nine nights here and Zakaria made the stay enjoyable. He’s easygoing, and the place was super clean, which matters most to me. Having the same breakfast every day, with so much bread, was a bit much. Other than that, everything was absolutely great. I’d stay here again whenever I visit Marrakech 🙏🏾
