We were unsure at first, but after four nights we genuinely enjoyed our stay. Morocco grew on us, which shaped how much we’d like to return. At check-in the receptionist was eating, so we waited a few minutes for him to finish. It felt uncomfortable at first, but during the stay we came to appreciate his calm warmth and helpful suggestions for where to go and eat. Thanks to him and the cooks for breakfast. The location is a big plus: we could walk to the center and many sights, including the Medina. Breakfast was decent too. Our room was noisy at night. It sounded as if a generator or similar equipment was nearby, and we heard it unless we fell asleep quickly. Other guests were loud from the evening until very late, then started again early in the morning. We understand that was out of the staff’s control. The bathroom mirrors weren’t cleaned during our stay, though the bin was always emptied. There was mold on the ceiling, so we kept the window open a lot, which wasn’t a problem for us. The shower kept clogging. The receptionist unclogged it once, but it continued, and we found that leaving the drain uncovered helped the water flow. We booked the full hammam package for 500dg per person. It was different from what we were used to, but not necessarily bad. Tips for the women doing the hammam are expected, and they will ask, so it’s best to have some cash ready to show appreciation for their work. Card payment for the package was possible but had an extra fee; cash was the listed price, excluding tips. One woman did the hammam for both my husband and me at the same time, then another joined later for the massage. We paid the full package price for two, with no discount even though one person did our hammam simultaneously in the time allotted for one person. The hammam area could be improved: remove the plastic carpets, avoid having the woman doing the hammam wear outdoor slippers inside after asking us to remove ours, and address the mold on the entrance ceiling to improve the hygiene and atmosphere.
