Smarts Hotel

The tea they brought us while we waited for help was charged to our bill, which felt pretty poor given everything else. We were locked out of our room for nearly 90 minutes while waiting for a technician, and even after that the key still didn't work. The front desk said the technician would come and the door would be opened shortly. We weren't offered another room, despite having a broken lock and a room with no air conditioning. If the hotel was full, fair enough, but if there were rooms free, why keep us somewhere uncomfortable and insecure? We ended up leaving the room unlocked whenever we went out, including that evening. That's a serious safety concern. At check-in, a manager told us there was no air conditioning. We spent the night in a stifling room with only a small fan, then the next day another manager said we could have switched rooms. If air-conditioned rooms were available, why weren't we offered one from the start? Things can break at a hotel, but guests shouldn't have to suffer through avoidable discomfort when another option is available. A simple room change would have made a big difference. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was frustrating from beginning to end. A little empathy and basic customer service would have gone a long way. Travel is tiring enough without preventable problems like these.

The breakfast was what you'd expect for the price, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The rooms could use a bit more cleaning and maintenance, especially around the showers.

For the price, the room was dirty, with stains on the sheets, fingerprints from previous guests, a smelly, rusty bathroom, and an uncomfortable mattress. The toilet wouldn't flush either. All I got from the woman at the front desk was, “Sorry.”

The room was an okay size, but it smelled of sewer and the water drain was blocked. There were no towels when I checked in, and I had to go down to reception twice to get some. The service was very bad and my complaints weren't dealt with. I wouldn't recommend it to tourists.
