The popular point de l'exclamation lounge bar is on the premises, and to me it’s the city’s best place for a night out. It can make the area around the hotel a little noisy, so ask for the 3rd or 4th floor if one is available. Even if not, the rooms seem to have some soundproofing, and you should still get a good night’s sleep. There are also two Texas Holdem tables and a casino with slot machines. Add the comfortable rooms, helpful staff, central location and attentive director, and I can’t find fault with the place. It’s my favorite spot in Antananarivo by far.

The room had a few practical extras, including a large bottle of water, a mosquito repellent device and body spray. Breakfast has several choices, from traditional English to Malagasy dishes, and you can have it brought to your room or eat on the terrace overlooking the avenue. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the central location makes exploring convenient. A couple of things to know: the hot water is solar-heated and isn’t always available, and card payments have an extra 4% fee. One bathroom bulb had burned out, leaving the mirror area dim. For the location and amenities, I thought it was good value.

It feels like coming home whenever I return. The rooms are excellent and look recently refurbished, and there’s top entertainment too. I’d highly recommend it to business travelers who want to unwind after a busy day.
