If it’s available, I’d get the family room for the view and privacy. The view and peaceful setting are hard to beat, and the staff are incredibly helpful. The Manager speaks English and seems to know everyone in Shan State, so I recommend asking them to arrange local treks, including the Inle Trek. Breakfast is included each day, though the choices are limited. You can order from any local restaurant the night before and the staff will bring it over. They can deliver any meal, and Monaco restaurant is worth trying. Winters get cold, but they brought us extra blankets and two heaters. There’s a car and motorbikes for hire, and bicycles are free. Definitely visit the View Point at sunset!

The staff were very friendly, but they couldn’t understand much English. The room was small and old, and nothing looked like the photos online. I expected to see the owner Louis, based on what I’d read, but never saw him during our stay. I think someone else may have taken over, and the hotel name has changed to Unique Motel. It’s too far from town, there was no Wi-Fi, and breakfast was the same basic toast and egg every day with no other options. I’d get bored after two days. Not worth USD 30.

The owners live on site and were terrifically helpful whenever we had questions. They spoke English too. The rooms aren’t five-star, but they were clean, cozy and well kept. Loved the place and the people.

You can feel as though you’re in the middle of the woods even though the place is in town. Lots of different birds still live around there. They’re working on expanding some of the buildings, and it could be a perfect place in the future.

The room is small but nice, and the price is reasonable. The owner’s family are super nice. It’s a quiet location, good for anyone wanting to get away from city life.
