Despite the grand-looking lobby and rooms, just about everything felt cheap. The light switches and toilet paper holders kept breaking, the kettle wouldn't work in any socket, and the Chinese TV had problems with its picture quality. When I moved in, the sheets didn't seem washed, and there were blood stains on the pillow. People, locals and Chinese, smoked everywhere despite the no-smoking policy. As one of my friends put it, people around the city generally understand some English, but the hotel seems to deliberately hire people who don't. Receptionists understood a little, with some pointing and finger gestures. And right next door is a Muslim church that announces prayers over loudspeakers at night.

The room had a strong, strange spray-like smell when I first walked in. Maybe it was covering up a bathroom odor? The twin room was just so-so, but it had the basics: TV, AC, fridge, and kettle. Nothing really stood out, but it was basically okay.

The location is very good and the price is fair, but breakfast was very bad, just cool coffee and one banana or noodles. There was no hot water, and the room tiles were broken.
