There are a few little restaurants close by, though the hotel sits a bit away from the Thai border. It’s probably the best place to stay in town. The rooms seem recently redone, but the work was sloppy, with paint splashed on things and wires left exposed.

The room had a smell of smoke, and I could hear noise from outside. Wi-Fi worked better than at other hotels I’ve tried, and there’s an elevator. Breakfast was fair, and the gym is there, though no pool. They also have a large room for meetings, training, or workshops. It’s a new hotel and the best one in town so far, but it isn’t a budget stay. There are restaurants nearby, though it’s outside the downtown center. At reception, staff didn’t greet me or smile, and just told me the breakfast time. Maybe that was because I’m local.

The rooms are spacious and pretty good, but at these prices I expected more. They run from about 55,000 Kyat to over 73,000 Kyat, which is more than the 4-star Centara Mae Sot Hill Resort. There you get a big buffet breakfast that changes regularly, meeting and conference space, a pool, tennis court, fitness centre, bar, two gift shops, restaurants on site, and room service. Here, there’s basically just a simple breakfast. It’s one of the better hotels in town, and also the most expensive, so it feels overpriced for what you get. If you’re going into Myanmar, I’d consider thukkawaddy or hotel 3 stars, or carry on to Hpa-an or Mawlamyine. If you’re heading to Thailand, Mae Sot could be a better option, unless you really have no other choice.

The price was fair and the place was clean. They followed MOHs guidelines for preventing virus spread. A few people had breakfast in their rooms, while more ate from the buffet in the dining room.
