Bawga Theiddhi Hotel

I visited in the rainy season, when visitor numbers are low, and took a superior room. It was very spacious, but the bed wasn’t very comfortable and the clothes were a bit old. Electricity was available 24/7, which matters in Myanmar, where power cuts are normal. With few guests, they didn’t serve a buffet breakfast, just a few choices such as fried rice, fried vermicelli, or fried noodles, plus slices of bread. Wi-Fi was weak, and I suggest using a VPN because the hotel Wi-Fi isn’t security protected. There’s hot and cold water in the shower and a swimming pool. The front desk was helpful, and you can rent an e-bike for 7500/4hr. The hotel is at the edge of the city, with restaurants easy to reach. Keep in mind that no ATM was working in Bagan, they were all powered off.

Breakfast was okay, with fresh fruit, bread, cereal, eggs, tea, and coffee. The hotel rents e-bikes, and there’s also a shop across the road and many other places offering them. A small e-bike costs about 6000kts, and you should always negotiate the price. The pool and garden were well maintained, and there was a small bar by the pool, the only bar in the hotel. It had a limited drink selection and could make a handful of cocktails, but there was no tonic water. Beer and other drinks felt a bit expensive for the place and area. The room was nice, though the hotel was quiet enough that you could hear the reception phone ring and people or staff walking around. Still, it’s a nice, quiet spot. It’s almost at the end of a road, and the street gets a little dark because there are only a few lights from nearby shops and hotels.

It has all the facilities, though the room decor is pretty ordinary. The buffet breakfast didn’t have many choices and wasn’t that good. Still, it was a very good base for a Bagan trip :')

We stayed in a bungalow next to the pool. The landscaping was nice, and there’s a restaurant with a puppet show at 7 pm. Staff were friendly, and the pool and bar were nice too. It’s a little far from the busy area.
