Royal Emerald River View Resort

The pool is nice, and the riverbank gives you a good panoramic sunset view. Room rates felt a little high compared with luxury hotels in Old Bagan. I'd recommend using the pool as an outside guest.

There's a great river view, a lovely garden and an infinity pool, with helpful staff and excellent service. The rooms are very big, and prices are very reasonable in the off season. It's a bit outside Old Bagan, but I think it's the best choice compared with other expensive hotels in Bagan or near the temples. Just make sure the A/C cools the room properly. I stayed first in April in a river-view room, then returned with my family, and we enjoyed it a lot. Don't waste money on expensive hotels when Royal Emerald River View gives you this kind of service. I'll stay again.

The hotel is beautiful and very quiet, and all the staff were polite and helpful. We stayed from Dec 28 to 31, but management was weak. When I contacted reception for things I needed, responses were slow and sometimes they forgot. They didn't bring water, take out the garbage or make the bed. We paid the highest price but didn't get signature service. Staff should have the same uniform, name tags and positions. I want senior management to know about this and hope they'll do something. Have a new year.

It's a great place with a nice view near the river. You can do a little hiking around the hotel grounds, though it's a bit far from Old Bagan.
