Hotel Rose Hill

Rooms are decent for the price, and it’s a clean, comfortable mid-range place in Tamwe Township, near Kandawgyi Lake. The staff are friendly and breakfast is good. Some rooms could use minor maintenance, and the WiFi can be weak. A quiet, good-value option for budget travelers who want to stay near the city center.

It works well for a quiet, budget trip. Rates are lower because the hotel doesn’t have room service or extras like a spa, swimming pool, or bar. The kitchen also shuts fairly early in the evening, around 8:30 PM. If you’re lucky and can discuss it, you might get a nice view of Inya lake.

The breakfast is the one thing I’d recommend: the food was well made and the service there was good. There’s also a spacious parking lot. The rest of my staycation over the last few months wasn’t nearly as good. I used to spend time here, but the receptionists’ attitude felt unwelcoming. Bell boys were okay, but being charged an insane amount to bring a plate from the kitchen was frustrating. The bathroom ceiling had mold, the exhaust fan was dusty, and the towels were worn out, with some torn and stained. There was dust everywhere under the bed, too. The TV was pretty useless, with no channels and no smart WiFi connection. The WiFi itself wasn’t sufficient for normal browsing.

The front desk was the biggest letdown. They had our room ready but still made us wait about 40 minutes. I know it wasn’t check-in time yet, but since it was ready, a few minutes early would’ve been a nice gesture. The receptionists weren’t very friendly either, and that first impression brought the stay down to two stars. Away from the desk, the service was fine. The room was okay and I liked it, though the minibar was almost nonexistent. The TV didn’t really work, only the radio did. Food was more than okay and breakfast was good, but the banana samosa was super weird.
