Our Governor Suite was lovely, with a view of the Shwedagon Pagoda. They'd left flowers, wine, and a bowl of fruit in the room, which was a nice surprise. I was less pleased by the restaurant prices, which are like London's, such as $18 for a room service burger. At that price, it had better be good. Still, the place feels plush, the staff are courteous and well trained, and I was impressed enough to recommend it without hesitation.

The bed and pillows were really comfortable, and I slept well. The hotel has some character, with a nice garden and a decent pool, and service was great. Breakfast was all right for the price. The room was quite dirty in spots and needs a full renovation, though, and the food wasn't very good. Ask for coffee and juice without additions, since both came full of syrups and additives, as seems customary here. For about the same price, it falls well short of Novotel's standard.

Even if you're not staying here, having a meal or a drink is peaceful and relaxing. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, and the architecture is unlike anything else in Yangon. It's a beautiful hotel with an authentic Burmese style and feel, hard to match anywhere in town. Clubhouse night club is downstairs in the basement if you're after more entertainment.

The lake view is great, and the hotel is lovely and clean. Breakfast was nice, too. You can walk to Shwedagon Pagoda, though you'll need a cab to get to the city centre. The Wi-Fi could use improvement.

By Myanmar standards it's okay, but it doesn't measure up internationally. The hotel feels worn and needs updating, and the rooms are adequate but should be cleaner. Wi-Fi is weak and unreliable. The staff are friendly enough, though I wouldn't expect great service. I wouldn't recommend staying here.
