My dad was renewing his Grand Lisboa membership card at the casino, and we waited in the elevator lobby between it and The Eight. A woman came over clapping loudly to get our attention, then rudely told us we couldn't stand in the middle of the lift lobby or stay there long. We'd just spent almost $3,000 on lunch at The Eight. What a way to treat customers and members. Hospitality is truly dead.

The inside is just as striking, with those huge chandeliers. From around town, the structure itself can be seen from miles away, almost like a beacon or a watchful eye. Kudos to Stanley Ho for making something that may once have been only a dream happen.

The hotel is interesting and instantly recognizable. There are plenty of shuttle buses to get you from one place to another around Macau.

It's probably the biggest place in Macau, and it's packed with people. There's a free shuttle, but you need a casino ticket to ride it.
