New Century Hotel & Casino

We booked one night through a travel agent while visiting Hong Kong and Macau, and I was there with my wife and our two children, aged seven and three. By midnight the next day, a cleaner was knocking to tell us to check out. We knew the checkout time and the high charges for staying late, so there was no need to remind us that way. The room itself was filthy, with broken fixtures, blocked drains in both the bathtub and wash basin, no drinking water bottles, and dirty, torn towels and sandals. The minibar was empty, despite reception demanding a deposit for it. WiFi was another shock: I was told it cost 150 dollars, a premium just to get online. At check-in there was no greeting, and the receptionist looked at me in a discriminatory way. The rest of the staff were just as cold, without smiles or greetings. The fake sculpture at the entrance gave me an early sense of how inhospitable the place might be, but the staff attitude and the facilities were what really let us down. I'm normally patient and can make do if at least one part of the service is good, but I was completely disappointed here. Please don't waste your time and money. The hotel seems to pay little attention to the facilities or to making guests feel welcome. Macau is beautiful, and there are much better places to stay where you can appreciate the hospitality of the hotels and the city. I hope management reads this and works with the staff. I won't recommend the hotel, and if it were my only option, I'd rather cancel a Macau trip than stay here.

A nice place to stay.

The decor was just okay, and there's no WiFi anywhere in the hotel or shuttle bus. What bothered me most was how impatient the front desk staff were. If I could, I'd give it no stars.

The rooms have a Big Bull Turtle TV and worn-out paper slippers. It's really unusual for tourists to visit New Century Hotel.
