Central Suites

The apartment was within walking distance of beaches, the main bus station, shops and restaurants. Inside, it was clean and pleasant, with all the equipment we needed, and the photos matched what we found. Communication with the owner was above standard. He replied right away whenever we had a question or issue and helped us sort things out. With a baby, we really appreciated having self-service laundry in the building.

Our penthouse had less room than the other apartments, but it didn’t feel like a compromise because we had two balconies. One was off the bedroom, so I could step straight out into the Maltese morning sun. I stayed five nights in May/June with friends in two other Central apartments, and all of them were beautiful, spacious and clean, with quality furniture and air con that worked quickly in the living room, bedroom and bathroom. They’ve clearly put effort into the place, and it was a lovely spot to relax during the hottest part of the day. The apartments are a few floors up, so you’ll need the lift or a long walk. That’s common in a built-up area, and being higher up does help keep bugs out. A few things could be improved: more keys, better advertising, and a reception that looks more like the apartments. When I first arrived, I thought I’d come to the wrong place. It would also help nervous guests like me to know that you take a short walk from reception to the buildings. Even with those suggestions, I fully recommend staying here.

Josef, the manager, was friendly and very accommodating. He offered tips on what to see and where to go, and even lent us an umbrella when it rained. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. The apartments are well located, just a few minutes’ walk from shops, bars and a cash machine. Our place had spacious bedrooms, a modern, well-equipped kitchen, an extendable dining table and a small private terrace at the back, reached through the bedrooms. There’s a washing machine you can use for €1 per hour. The main drawback was how easily sound travelled between apartments, making every noise seem louder. Apart from that, it was a perfect stay for us with the children.

The owner didn’t seem concerned about other guests or warn people to keep the noise down at 3am and not shout. The place is near the sea, though the sandy beach is farther away, and there’s an aquarium nearby. If you look around, you can find somewhere better. I can’t recommend it. 👎
