We’d reserved for the weekend, then had to cancel and asked if we could postpone to a date when it was available. They wouldn’t consider it. We were willing to pay, so that was no problem, but I’d choose somewhere else if I visit Malta.

This is only about the restaurant on the hotel floor. You can stop in for food or drinks even if you’re not a guest. The building is beautiful and the view is great, but the food wasn’t good enough to justify the prices. Our server was rude and bothersome, and seemed unable to speak or understand English beyond set phrases. Worst of all, the water glasses still had lipstick marks from previous customers. A dirty, expensive and weird experience. I don’t leave bad reviews lightly.

Our harbour view was spectacular and I’d recommend it. The building has lots of character and has been nicely renovated. There’s a lift to every floor, which is handy with luggage. Breakfast isn’t served on site, but there’s a short walk to a co-owned restaurant with a sumptuous breakfast menu.

There’s no reception or lobby, and getting to the hotel involves lots of stairs, as does reaching the elevator once inside. The room was very small and unclean, especially the bathroom, which had black marks. Service was poor: they charged 12 euros more to our credit card than the Booking price, using DCC without our permission or consent. When we raised the extra charge, they brushed us off and refused to refund it. Bad service and a bad place. Don’t go near it!
