Thoddoo Retreat Grand

Across the six islands and hotels where we stayed during our 15 days in the Maldives, this owners' place gave us the best experience. They're attentive and kind, the property is lovely, and they made sure we had a great stay. The owner told me he had once been a highly acclaimed manager at a five star resort. You can see that experience in how he hosts. We felt like royalty and got a five star experience at a guest house. Do yourself a favour and stay here.

We had a great time with the owners of Thoddoo Retreat Guesthouse. They're wonderful hosts, friendly, and ready to help with anything. They arranged transport and offered good excursions. The room was large and had a modern hot rain shower, air conditioning, and a fridge. It was cleaned daily and came with fresh towels each day. You could borrow bicycles and snorkelling gear for free. Breakfast, a nice Maldives style meal, was included. They also served delicious lunch and dinner at the guesthouse, with an all you can eat buffet and drinks for $10. Just remember this is a local island, not a resort. We highly recommend staying here and would come back for sure. Katie & Chris

The beaches were lovely and clean, and there was lots of fresh fruit. I was bothered by the mosquitoes, though. I was bitten so much that I contracted septicaemia and ended up in hospital, so bring plenty of bug spray. Even with that, I'd definitely return to Thoddoo. When we arrived by speedboat, someone met us at the harbour and took us to the Thoddoo Retreat grand. The rooms were clean and air conditioned, which you need in that heat. The food was very basic, but there were loads of local restaurants nearby. Thoddoo island itself was beautiful.

The staff are what make this guest house, especially Abdullah and Iku. We had a wonderful experience of Maldivian hospitality at an affordable price, with excellent facilities and amazing food. I'd especially recommend the local breakfast. We'll be back very soon.
