Veli Thoddoo Inn

This was my fourth visit to Veli Thoddoo, and I was delighted to return. Azmy and his family are always kind and friendly, and they go out of their way to make the holiday feel just as you hoped. They impress me every time. The accommodation is tidy and clean, with attention to every detail, and their food is always rich in flavor and delicious. This time we planted our palms on the island again. It’s really cool to have your own palm tree on the other side of the world, and I look forward to seeing them grow when I return. Thanks for making another vacation unforgettable.

There’s a beautiful garden full of plants where meals are served, and I loved the fresh-fruit juices and incredibly delicious food. We even got to try Eid Mubarak cookies. Veli Thoddoo Inn is sustainable and vegan-friendly, and the room was spotless and air-conditioned. Most of all, Azmy was the kindest, most thoughtful host I’ve met. He gave us all the information we needed, helped organize trips and showed us around. We felt at home, and I enjoyed this stay more than a 5-star resort in the Maldives. I’d give it 11/10 and want to come back!

Our group of 8 people stayed at Veli, and we were all very dissatisfied with the experience at Veli Thodoo and with Azmi. The host was very unfriendly and didn’t seem concerned about anything. The food was bad and repeated every 2 days, and after arriving and eating very good food at a restaurant, I asked him to return the money for the food the next day. The rooms didn’t look like the photos, the bathroom smelled horrible, and there were ants everywhere. Azmi was a totally selfless person. The accommodation and food were of the lowest quality, as there was no variety.

It’s clean, quiet and lovely, with soft beds, a fridge for perishables and a nice garden for meals. The host is professional and helpful. There’s its own beach access at the new bikini beach, and it’s within walking distance of the harbor and a large grocery store. I only wish I hadn’t wasted two days at another guesthouse, which was terrible compared with this one. I think this is the best value on the island.
