Hotel Henry Bacalar

The owners were so warm and friendly. The rooms were nice, with comfortable beds, sheets, and towels, and the place is close to everything. AC and a fan helped with the heat. There was a nice pool, places to eat, and a shared fridge, which was a bonus. Highly recommend!

Henry was very accommodating. He helped us find boat tours and places to eat, and even let us use the pool longer. We had a nice time relaxing there since it wasn't busy. The place is small and cute, with big, comfortable rooms. It got a tiny bit loud, and the shower wasn't the newest, pretty much the same as everywhere in Mexico. Still, 10/10, I'd recommend this lovely place. We tried to stay longer, but it was fully booked!

Getting in and out felt weird and controlled. You have to knock at the door every time, and the man comes to let you in. I also found it hard to locate the entrance at first. I didn't find the host friendly, though he did help arrange an amazing lagoon tour for 400pesos pp. The pool is beautiful, which is probably why many people book here. The location is a short walk from the lagoon, and there's a convenience store right across the road. The room was standard, the AC worked fine, but the shower drained slowly. There are only 3 covered parking spaces, apparently first come, first served. If you return late, you may have to double park or squeeze under a tree. I'd skip it and stay elsewhere next time.

The rooms were small, filthy, and had a smelly bathroom. The man who checked us in was very unfriendly. You have to knock each time you want to enter because the place is behind a locked gate, and you can't get in or out from midnight to 7 AM. Maybe it's a good fit for families with small children, but the room standard left me regretting my choice.
