The rooms look good and the hotel is great overall. Breakfast was good too, but the WiFi varied a lot, very good in some rooms and barely available in others. The main reason I’m giving three stars is the nighttime noise. I think it affects only the second-floor rooms, which have a more traditional roof that doesn’t block any sound. It’s literally like sleeping on the street. There was a lot of loud music late Friday evening. The noise was mostly gone in the bathroom, which is why I blame the roof. For the price, if the hotel invested in another roof, maybe just on the inside, and made WiFi more consistent, it would definitely be five stars. If you book, I recommend asking for a downstairs room.

There was no water for the shower, toilet, or even washing our hands. We raised the issue, but the owners did nothing and said it was “normal.” It was also very noisy at night, so we barely slept. The staff weren’t friendly and didn’t speak any English, which made communication really difficult. This was the first hotel I’d ever left early. I can’t recommend it.

We arrived at 20:30 at night in high season with our family, having given our credit card number over the phone to secure a reservation, and were told there were no rooms left. The owner said the person who had taken our booking no longer worked there and that taking reservations by credit card wasn’t hotel policy. They didn’t try to help find a solution or take responsibility for leaving a family stranded at night. Luckily, another couple we knew was staying at a different hotel and helped us find a third place. There are plenty of other options here with more professional and responsible staff. This place deserves zero stars.

It’s a nice, comfortable, quiet hotel with friendly staff and good breakfast. The vintage decor looks good too. It’s downtown, just a couple of blocks from the main square and San Felipe Fort, though a little expensive considering it isn’t right by the Bacalar lagoon.
