They cleaned the room every day, and the welcome was very warm. Bikes are free to use, if you’re able to ride one without brakes.

For what it costs, I expected much better. The service was awful, and the place was filthy, from the beds and bathrooms to the towels. The curtains and door were torn, the bathrooms smelled bad, and then the water stopped working. If you have a chance to stay here, don’t.

The location helped us get away from downtown Bacalar’s bustle, and the management staff answered my questions and helped us with a few things, so I appreciate that. But the stay was a lot of trouble, and the photos looked very different from the place we found. They seemed to be from a year earlier. We only saw tree trimming and cleaning around the pool and restaurant as we were leaving. In our room, cockroaches came out of the shower drain while I was bathing, with the water running. The sheets and pillowcases were dirty and weren’t changed during our three days there. The towels smelled awful, and we weren’t given fresh ones. There were bugs in the bed too, and we ended up with bites. The dresser beside the bed had termites. The internet never worked. The tour we paid for included a cenote and other attractions, and was supposed to provide fruit. There was no fruit; instead, they tried to sell us chips and drinks. I know they were promoting someone else’s service, so it may not have been their responsibility, but it felt like people were being misled and taken advantage of. There are a lot of things here that need attention and improvement. You go somewhere to rest, not to put up with this.

We stayed in January 2025. The rooms were dirty and only superficially cleaned, with too many mosquitoes. The bathroom had no water and no hot water. Service was poor, and there were no volume controls. They moved us into another dirty room, which had neither toilet paper nor a control for the AC. The bicycles they offered were useless and hadn’t been maintained.
