We could walk everywhere from here. The markets south of the wall were bustling, and the museums, churches, monuments, architecture, history, attractions, and fun nightlife were all nearby. Set inside the walled city, it's also a short stroll from many of the great must see sites. This was exactly how I wanted to experience historic San Francisco de Campeche. The villa dates back to the 16th century and isn't modern, but the rooms have been renovated and open onto a central courtyard. They let in the open air, with ceiling fans and AC for cooling or heating. I was visiting from Canada during a cold February and felt comfortable at 18-25c without heat. Breakfast was modest, and the rooms were clean, with private bathrooms. The staff were excellent, and the price was very modest.

We were directed here because they would accept our large canine child.

We arrived at 11:20 to find they'd given our room to someone else, even though we'd reserved by phone for that night and said we'd get there between 10 and 11. They never called to check with us or tell us they were canceling the reservation. When we complained, the man at the counter laughed instead of apologizing. By the time we found out, the historic zone had filled up while we'd been relying on our reservation. We couldn't find another available hotel and had to stay in another part of the city. Horrible customer service, and no integrity.

The rooms were a bit pricey, but nothing too crazy. The hotel is handy for getting to the action, and the rooms are still quiet. Convenient location.

The facilities are old but still work, and the accommodation wasn't bad. It's a pity they don't accept credit cards.
