Coco Hostel

We loved the quiet location, away from the big fancy resorts and close to delicious local food, including $1 tacos. Claudia cooks breakfast from the heart, and it was AWESOME. Best hostel! We’ll be back soon.

The common rooms weren’t especially comfortable, but the place was nice, very clean, and the breakfast was outstanding. The staff were kind and helpful. The Italian owner was lovely too, and even cooked us dinner for free. World’s best pasta!

We got there at night, called to the people inside, and waited several minutes before they opened the door. They were all heavily under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and one person even passed out. They took us to a room without checking us in because they were too wasted, and told us to do it the next day. The room was disgusting, full of bedbugs and cockroaches. It smelled like a wet dog mixed with the toxic exterminator chemicals still in the room. The blankets they gave us were smelly and had holes. There was blood everywhere on the walls, floor, beds, and blankets from people slapping the bugs. We weren’t going to sleep there, so we left and stayed in a nearby hotel. This is a big scam and looks nothing like it does online. One star is the minimum, but it isn’t even worth that.

Simple and easy place to stay, but nicer than I expected. Breakfast was very good, and they can make a vegan option if you ask. The staff were lovely, and the Wi-Fi connection was really good.
