Hotel Mansión Tarahumara

We booked and rented a room on the highest floor, which gave us a fantastic view of the Barranca/Canyon. Everything else was perfect, too. The staff were friendly, helpful and nice, and the service was impeccable at every level.

We were on the top floor, and our room had an amazing view. Every morning of our stay, we got to watch the sunrise. Our plan included food, and we were really happy with both the meals and the service. The staff are great people and made us feel welcome. If you’re visiting the Copper Canyon in Chihuahua, I really recommend checking into Hotel Mansion Tarahumara.

The canyon vista rooms have incredible views, and they’re worth the climb. Just be ready for all those stairs in the sun. Breakfast at the hotel is decent before heading to the train or adventure park. For other meals, walk downhill to the really red house called "Los Magueyes".

The afternoon walk behind the mountain is a must, and it’s free. From the hotel you can also explore the area and meet friendly Raramuri people. Walk about five minutes to the left and there’s a blue store where I found great homemade bread. The hotel sits high on a mountain among big trees and stones, with the surroundings left as they are. There are stairs and slopes up to the viewpoint and the rooms with the best views, but the scenery is spectacular at sunrise and sunset, and the night sky is full of stars. You can see the views from all around the hotel. My room was comfortable, clean, quiet and safe, and the restaurant and hotel have the feel of a lovely old castle. The food was great, with more than enough on each plate, and the employees were friendly and kind. I arrived alone at night in the first week of April for the Bacajipare Trail Challenge running event. The employees kept track of my arrival by phone, reserved dinner for me, and even waited on the highway at night so I wouldn’t get lost on the way to the hotel. That’s beyond hotel service. I wasn’t charged anything extra. I hope I can come back after the rainy season. Thank you!
