The hotel's policies felt rigid and unfriendly. Once you check in, cancelling seems practically impossible, and they charge for the full reservation regardless of the circumstances, even when the problems are on their end. I wouldn't recommend staying here under any circumstances. There are far better options, so do yourself a favor and choose another hotel. The room itself was uncomfortable and poorly laid out. Its windows were covered in opaque contact paper, blocking the outside view and making the place feel like a basement. The room also felt depressing and claustrophobic, and the beds were uncomfortable enough to make decent sleep difficult. They provided just two towels and no face towels. The bathroom setup was a complete disaster. There was no curtain or door around the shower, so water flooded the whole bathroom floor. The controls were in such an awkward spot that switching between the overhead and handheld shower nearly guaranteed you'd get soaked. The TV didn't work, and neither did the room phone, so I couldn't call the front desk. I tried the hotel's main customer service number, but after a long stretch of repetitive hold music, I got no meaningful help. From the moment I arrived, customer service was unacceptable. The front desk staff were dismissive and unhelpful, with little interest in resolving anything. There was never a manager available to escalate my concerns. The place showed a clear lack of customer care, maintenance, and accountability. I had an extremely disappointing stay and strongly advise others to avoid it.

The room was spacious and looked decent, and the staff were kind the whole time. We arrived very late and only stayed one night, so I can't say much about the location. What got to us was the overpowering fragrance they used, even if they meant well. We just wanted to sleep after arriving late. The continental breakfast was only okay, and it felt chaotic, with no system or information written down. The one staff member there seemed completely overwhelmed. Still, it was a very good choice for one night. Those issues seem easy to fix and weren't too bad.

The staff and servers were very kind, and the hotel is gorgeous, with lovely decor and very clean rooms. The regular pool was wonderful, though the hot tub was the same temperature as the pool, which seemed odd since it is usually hot. There were a few functional issues. The Roku apps on our TVs wouldn't work. The shower had no closing door and was designed to stay half open, so it was really cold. There was no foot towel either, which would've helped keep us from slipping on the tile. We were told about continental breakfast but not when it stopped. A kind waiter told us service ended at 10am, but we got there at 10:15am. Two other families showed up around 10:30am, so we weren't the only ones who hadn't been told. The hotel should either keep breakfast open longer or clearly tell guests at check-in when it ends. I personally think 10 am is too early, though maybe that's just me.

Breakfast was good, though the restaurant felt a little crowded with only one waiter serving the tables. The indoor swimming pool was very good, especially for kids and their parents. We had a little trouble setting up the TV, but the service desk sorted it out quickly. The hotel was nice, and the staff were warm and welcoming during our holiday weekend at Maria Bonita. All in all, we had a very good stay at Maria Bonita in Chihuahua, thanks to the management and crew.

The only thing I didn't like was the pool schedule. It could open earlier, from 7:00 to 9:00, so adults and people like me who start work early could use it. On Sundays and afternoons it's packed with whole families, and there's no room. The waiters, staff, and cleaning crew were super friendly, and I found the hotel comfortable and pleasant. The restaurant and bar were great places to spend time with friends.
