Wingate by Wyndham Chihuahua

The breakfast bar and happy hour are still good, but this place used to be much better. Three floors had broken ice machines, and the room service food was poor. The meat in the club sandwiches and breakfast omelettes seemed very cheap; the club sandwich bacon was slimy, mostly fat, and undercooked. I booked four days, then after a 15-hour workday I got locked out of my room because they'd charged my card for only one night. I had to carry my food and computer gear and backpack down to the desk to get my keys restored, then haul it all back upstairs. They need to fix a few things to be the great hotel they were when they first opened.

The beds were deliciously comfortable, and there were two kinds of pillows to suit your preference. Breakfast and service were great too. When I was heading upstairs with my baby, a maid helped by walking all the way to my room with us and our coffee. I'd stay again.

The reception staff were friendly, and breakfast was good, but it felt cheap that breakfast only let me choose coffee or juice. The WiFi was painfully slow and kept disconnecting. My bed was okay, though the pillows weren't comfortable; the rooms also felt dated and could have been cleaner. The nightly price was too high for what I got, and the stay was uncomfortable enough that I checked out early and lost a night's payment. The cleaner pressured me to have the room cleaned before 2 pm, so I declined cleaning for that day. I wouldn't recommend it as a place to stay in Chihuahua.

We liked our stay at this beautiful hotel, but breakfast meant waiting in line for around 30 to 45 minutes. Only two people were working the line, and by the time my husband and I reached the front, there wasn't much left to choose from.
