Plaza Juarez [ex. Holiday Inn Ciudad Juarez Lincoln]

The place looks decent when you first walk in, but don't be fooled. I checked Google reviews expecting a nice stay, and was very wrong. The room had no ventilation in the bathroom, so bodily smells stayed in the room. Towels were torn, pillows were tiny, and the bed was so springy and hard it felt like a rock. I think the floor might have been more comfortable. The Wi-Fi didn't work at all in my room, so I had to walk to the lobby for a weak signal. As soon as I entered, the room smelled like there was a dead body hidden in it. There were cockroaches everywhere, and when I lifted the sheets, I found roach eggs. Breakfast was awful: sour, expired milk, cardboard-tasting cereal, very hard bread that tasted weeks old, and everything was spicy. The service was poor too. Staff played on their phones and ignored you unless you spoke up. It's disgusting and badly lacking in sanitation. I'd only recommend it if you need shelter from the elements. Spend a few extra bucks and stay somewhere that meets your needs.

The room was clean, and the breakfast buffet was great. Ask for the freshly made omelet with vegetables, it's delicious. The pool is always full of kids. Wi-Fi is very poor, and some rooms have no connection at all.

The hotel was supposed to be beside the American Consulate, but the Consulate had been moved about 20 minutes away years ago. I had booked four nights, then told the manager I would stay only one night and check out early to move closer to the Consulate. The manager agreed to the early check-out but refused a refund for the other three nights. Given how management handled this, I'd advise against using the hotel, or being extremely careful if you do. A hotel that won't work with a customer doesn't feel trustworthy.

We were there with a big family, and the staff let us move tables so we could all eat together. They were always nearby to top up coffee or offer water and juice. The breakfast buffet opened early and had great food, with someone making fresh tortillas and another preparing omelets, plus Mexican staples like menudo, chilaquilles and refried beans. We also held a quincenera in their hall, and the staff there gave great service. The rooms were clean and well kept, and room service quickly brought fresh towels, sheets and blankets. All in all, it was an enjoyable stay, and the staff were super friendly and accommodating.
