Hacienda Don Armando

We spent two nights here, and both times the restaurant and pool service was unavailable because they were busy hosting events. They gave priority to the events and didn’t explain things clearly. We also asked to have laundry done, but they were too occupied to help with that either. It felt like they simply didn’t care. Horrible service. Both nights there was an event and they said they couldn’t serve us at the restaurant. We asked about laundry and were told they were too busy for that too. They didn’t care. Terrible.

The hotel has a lot going for it: lovely architecture, clean rooms, comfortable beds, endless hot shower water, Netflix and HBO, and personable staff. It seems family run, and Armando Jr has a really cool accent. It could have true five-star potential. There were some serious problems, though. It’s a long way from the town center, and there are closer places to stay. The food costs a lot for what you get, and better meals are available in town for the same money. At check-in I was told the hot tub was normally on and would only be off that night. I stayed four days and three nights, and it never came on. They also charged me extra for a double room while the hotel seemed about 10% full. I could be wrong, but with 90% of the room curtains left open and tied back during my stay, I don’t think I am. After my last breakfast there, I spent four hours vomiting. Once that stopped, I felt fine, which makes me think it was food poisoning. As a business owner, I feel bad leaving this review, and I wish them success, but I’m loyal to the customer here. I hope they change their practices. Best wishes.

The breakfast was really good, especially the coffee, and the rooms were practical. Inside the hotel has a historic feel, with pictures of different Chihuahuan Haciendas, and there’s a cozy little pool and hot tub. Service was polite and professional. It’s just outside town, but the main street is about a 10-minute walk away. I’ll definitely come back.

This is a beautiful property, but its location on the outskirts of Creel makes it inconvenient for getting to Creel Centro, local tours, or the Chepe station. The staff were very young, and seemed poorly trained or managed when it came to meeting guest expectations. I didn’t see anyone on the property who looked over 20. The dining menu wasn’t available because they had a new chef, and the dinner bill was shocking. With proper management, this could be a great place. I wouldn’t stay here again.
