The host was attentive, the place was very clean, and the AC worked wonderfully in the summer. My partner, our dog and I stayed for a week about a year and a half ago and loved it. Try booking one of the houses at the very back if you can, they have a great sunset view over the Valle.

We rented two casitas, but neither had the advertised iron and ironing board. The sofa bed was very uncomfortable, and it got cold without a heater. Showering was difficult too, with weak water pressure and hard-to-regulate temperature.

I was told this is a private residential area, not a business area. Someone who lives there showed me their contract, which says it’s for private residential use only. They said many people renting the cabins are doing so under the table or illegally. Walking around felt dangerous. There are dogs everywhere that may attack even when you’re just passing by. Some residents who own homes were rude about the main gate having to open and the cars coming and going. Watch out for traffic too, cars were going 60 to 70 mph through the area like it was a racetrack.

Each Casita has its own space and grill, and the rooms are spacious and clean. Las Casitas are in a quiet, gated neighborhood near San Antonio de Las Minas. I’d definitely come back.

The scenery is nice and the setting feels cozy. It’s between Ensenada B.C and Tecate B.C Mexico, about an hour south of the border from Tecate, and next to La ruta del viño.
