Santulan

We felt like we had the place to ourselves, and it was so quiet. At night the sky was clear enough to see all the stars. The bedroom is simple and gorgeous, with a peaceful view, and the bathroom has a lovely rain shower and sunlight. The accommodations were lovely and relaxing. Breakfast was delicious, always with an egg dish like quiche or scrambled eggs, fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee, and fresh tortillas. We actually cancelled a lunch reservation because breakfast filled us up so much. Highly recommend!

The patios were great, and I loved the skylight above the rainfall shower. Those heated floors were amazing. They made us delicious breakfast every morning, and I was glad there was a security gate.

The mountain views were gorgeous at every hour, especially at sunset, and we loved opening the sliding doors all the way to make our room feel like an indoor-outdoor space. The proprietors of Santulan thought of everything, even leaving us a bottle of wine and congratulations in our room for our mini honeymoon. We stayed three nights and can’t wait to return. The location is great, but you do need a car, ideally one that can handle a few miles of bumpy dirt road. Our Subaru had no trouble, and we drove all over.

The room was pretty and had everything we needed, and we enjoyed the yoga room and meditation dome. We took the 90-minute class offered Saturday morning. Breakfast was included and delicious, and we’d stay here again if we’re in the Valle. There was some construction while we were there since they’re still new. Bring bug spray and ear plugs: we saw lots of mosquitos, and one night very loud dogs howled all night. They weren’t the hotel’s dogs, but we wished we’d brought ear plugs.
