The room was spacious and the location was great, with nice restaurants and bars just to the northeast. We had a kitchen, but it only had basic utensils, with no kettle, coffee machine, or kitchen towels. There was just a sheet on the bed, and our three nights were freezing. The windows were single-glazed, and we had three of them. When we asked for blankets, we were told the hotel didn’t have any. Check-in instructions hadn’t arrived by the morning we were due to check in. I followed up and was told they needed a copy of my passport. That would have been fine if they’d asked earlier. We were travelling all day without WiFi and had no local phone, so sorting it out at the last minute during the hotel’s short 9-5 attendance hours was a pain.

The customer service never replied to our messages, and the building was so loud that the room windows shook whenever someone closed a door. The room was also completely humid. It felt like a sauna when we walked in, and the dampness got into the bedsheets and even our clothes. We had specifically booked air conditioning and a hot plate, but the air conditioning didn’t work. The shower was a disaster too. Its pressure and temperature changed suddenly, and I nearly got burned. I managed to get out in time, or I might have ended up in hospital that night. If you’re only looking for a good bed, you could pay 30-35 USD, but this place isn’t worth trying.

The location was easily the best part of our booking. It’s a cool neighborhood, with an ATM and OXXO a 5-7 minute walk away. The room itself was nice and clean, the pillows, sheets, and duvet were comfortable, and the desk and reliable internet were good. They also provide an iron and a few hangers. You get fewer amenities for the lower price: no kitchen, parking, or live host. Most of our hassle came from other guests struggling with their door codes. They kept trying to enter, and the beeping got incessant and really annoying. I know that isn’t their fault, since there’s no live help, just the option to call the BeLocal team. It always seemed to be the same door, Room 1. I stayed in Rooms 2 and 3 without any problems. As of around July 25th, work was being done, and the builder liked singing loudly in the morning. Enjoy!
