HMB Guadalajara Centro

I've been here for 15 days and hope to stay a bit longer. The room is so big that when I walked in, I wondered if I'd booked a suite. It's a great size and has all the accessories, with a double king-size bed. The toilet and bath fixtures are a little old and have some issues, but that's manageable.

The bathrooms were the worst part by far, just awful, like the pictures show. The place is handy if you’re going to the Diana theater, but the hotel feels ancient and there seems to be no plan to renovate. Maintenance looks like DIY work, and the light switches are all the way at the end of the room.

The hotel itself is beautiful and well located, and everyone apart from the receptionist was kind and polite. My toilet wasn’t working properly, but breakfast was what really left me with a bad impression. I’ve written a detailed review about that separately. The morning receptionist in particular wasn’t competent. Small things affect how you see a place, and I won’t stay here on my next visit to Guadalajara.

The staff were very pleasant, but the club next door made it impossible to sleep in room 511. You could hear the music clearly and feel it vibrating through the room, along with all the noise from people outside. I had booked two nights and will look elsewhere for the second one. The hotel is very dated, and only one of its three elevators was working, with a capacity of six. The room looked clean, though the towels were dingy and the shower floor was extremely slippery.
