Holiday Inn Express GDL Aeropuerto

Getting back from the airport to the hotel took way too long. We checked in late at night and the desk staff weren’t very pleasant. We’d paid for a room in the “new” tower, but were given a horrible, completely outdated room instead. The AC didn’t work and seemed prehistoric, there was no smart TV, and the whole restroom was rusty. A horrible experience for a chain like this. Totally disappointed.

The breakfast was decent and parking is included, just ask the front desk for a pass. But I won’t be coming back. I’ve stayed at the nearby Radisson for less money and better service, and only tried this place on a friend’s recommendation. Getting the shuttle was a mess. I called eight or nine times from the airport before anyone answered, and waited a long time at 10:30 pm hoping they’d pick up. I could have taken a taxi or Uber, but booked this hotel specifically for the shuttle. Once there, no luggage cart was available. At checkout, nobody was at the desk and there still wasn’t a cart. One bedroom smelled unpleasantly of either smoke or dust, I couldn’t tell which. The AC was overly loud, as other people have reported. The gym is a joke: one treadmill out of service, one bike, and one elliptical, with nothing else, not even a mat.

The shuttle wasn’t available, even though I called eight hours before landing, so I had to take a taxi. The room is outdated. I don’t recommend this place.

The hotel feels modern and clean, with a nice, clean pool and friendly staff. The beds are comfy, and there’s a good choice of TV channels in both English and Spanish. Breakfast was decent, and it’s about 20 minutes from the Cathedral. I also noticed easy access to a computer and a meeting room, which seems handy for business. I’ll definitely have my family stay here again.
