Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Guadalajara-Centro Historico by IHG

The hotel gets a 10 out of 10 from me. The service is good, the rooms are clean and air conditioned, breakfast is perfect, and everyone makes you feel welcome. The center itself isn’t that recommendable, though. I’d recommend this hotel chain 100%.

The service was the best part. The room was very clean and decently appointed, and the hotel is in a perfect location. The facilities were decent too.

The beds were comfy, the food was great, and the prices were amazing. Rooms were clean, though we had to switch rooms when the key card handle stopped working. That fits with the building feeling outdated, as do the old, slow elevators. Towels could be better, but it was still great value for the price and the location is perfect, just one block from the subway station. There’s a laundry room on the sixth floor that’s free to use. Bring your own detergent, which you can buy at the Oxxo across the road.

I’ve spent around 20 nights here over the last few years, since I first discovered Guadalajara, and it’s never disappointed me. This trip, the staff went above and beyond when our diabetic travel companion started getting low on sugar. My wife went to the lobby to get a Coke, hoping to raise it quickly. An observant staff member followed her back to the room and saw that medical help was needed. The hotel staff quickly coordinated with the Red Cross, who came to the room and got our companion’s sugar stable. Their professionalism, courtesy, and attentiveness meant a lot. Handling a medical situation in a foreign country was much less stressful because of them.
