Hotel La Rotonda

The restaurant breakfasts were fantastic, and everyone was welcoming throughout my three nights and four days there. I loved the old house feel, and the paintings around the hotel made it seem like an art museum. I’d definitely come back, since the location is perfect and close to the places tourists might want to visit. I’d read reviews mentioning bedbugs, but I personally didn’t have that problem.

The location was amazing. I spent two nights walking around la Zona Central, taking photos of the cathedrals and other beautiful architecture, with little restaurants and shops all an easy walk away. It’s inexpensive, with friendly staff, and I loved the decor and atmosphere. I did see a couple of bugs that looked like roaches, though I wasn’t bitten, and the room was otherwise quite clean and charming. If you need AC or bugs bother you, it may be worth paying more to stay elsewhere. If you’re on a budget or would rather spend your money on things beyond the room, this is a great option.

The hotel is beautiful, and the staff were polite and helpful. It’s in a perfect area, close to pretty much everything. But I’m giving it three stars because we found cockroaches and possibly bedbugs. We booked two rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs next to the bathroom, where the smell wasn’t pleasant. Both rooms had complaints about cockroaches, and there were bug bites on certain beds. I might book again if these problems are fixed. Just so you know, there’s no AC, only fans, though the pleasant weather made that okay.

The lobby is pretty and has a colonial look, but the rooms were dark, had no windows, and had dirty sheets. There were cockroaches, too. Don’t stay here.
