The staff were kind and the service was good, but I won’t stay here again. The beds were rock hard, and I tossed and turned all night without resting. The room was small, and while I wouldn’t call the hotel dirty, it wasn’t clean to a four-star standard. I felt so disappointed and deceived by the reviews and photos. Honestly, I’d have been better off sleeping on the floor. I expected the centro histórico to be a clean, nice area, but the streets were dirty, with trash and graffiti everywhere, and they smelled like urine. There were no restaurants apart from Domino’s, and everything closed early.

The staff made this stay for me. Everyone I met was warm, quick to help, and seemed to care about making the trip enjoyable. The hotel also offers fun excursions, which made getting out to explore easy and stress-free. Hotel Santiago de Compostela is right near Guadalajara’s center, so we could walk to major sights, restaurants, and cultural spots. I’d happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. It costs far too much for what you get, and the staff couldn’t communicate in English. There are much better hotels only a few blocks away that charge a lot less.

The rooftop pool and indoor and outdoor seating areas were lovely, with incredible views over Plaza de Dos Templos. The staff were warm and friendly and really tried to make our stay 110 percent. A wonderful hotel in the heart of Guadalajara, Mexico!

We could walk everywhere from this nicely located hotel, but the room was tiny. The pool also looked a bit untidy. Around 6:30 in the morning, breakfast preparations got so noisy that it woke us up.
