Hotel Mesón Pocitos

I was honestly nervous about my reservation after reading all the negative reviews, but they didn’t match what we experienced. The rooms were very comfortable, and the beds didn’t have the “bedbugs” mentioned in those reviews. The staff were very good and always attentive. When my son had a coughing fit, they brought us some tea to warm his throat, which was a huge gesture. The hotel is centrally located, close to all the points of interest. Please don’t let those negative reviews put you off booking. It’s worth the price.

You can walk out at night without much worry since downtown Guanajuato is only steps away. The place is spotless, the staff are really friendly, and every room has a queen bed. Prices are affordable, and they take cash or bank transfers. I'd definitely recommend it.

The bathroom was the deal breaker: when we opened the door, a bunch of cockroaches ran out. We’d already thought the small, oddly smelling first room we were given might be okay, but then the receptionist got angry because we’d paid for the reservation online. They refused to refund us. Don’t go, unless you want to be running out at 1 a.m.

We booked four nights for the first week of June 2026, but bed bugs made us leave at 11 pm. The manager was angry, and getting a refund turned into a hassle. Be careful, there are bed bugs.
