Hotel Plata Condesa

We stayed at Hotel Plata Condesa in El Centro from September 22 to 24, 2025. My wife and I have traveled in Mexico for more than 25 years. We found it clean and well maintained, and Room #9 was comfortable with a colonial look. It had a TV but no phone, and the bed was very firm, maybe too firm if you like a softer mattress. Check-in is across the street at the sister property, La Casona de Don Lucas. That was a small extra step, but it went smoothly. The location makes it easy to explore on foot. Shops, landmarks, and cultural attractions are all a stroll away, and there’s a wide choice of places to eat nearby. Rooftop restaurants can be upscale, but the views are great. We liked Nicromante Rooftop for its food and atmosphere. El Mercado is about a 7 minute walk and has more local options. Try the Guacamayas and Enchiladas Mineras, which reflect Guanajuato’s food traditions. Breakfast is served at La Casona and was a highlight, with a nice selection of traditional Mexican dishes. The area is busy with both pedestrians and cars, so we wouldn’t recommend renting a car. Uber from Guanajuato León’s airport is an option, though drivers may face restrictions at the terminal since they aren’t officially sanctioned there. DIDI was reliable and affordable for us, especially if you speak Spanish. You can also arrange private transfers for an easier arrival and departure.
