Tierra del Mar Hotel - Adult Only

There are just 8 rooms, set out in two blocks of four among lovely gardens, which kept things very quiet. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the pool was good. It’s less than a two-minute walk to the beach, with bars and restaurants conveniently close by. The staff were helpful. I recommend using them to book your onward transfer, as their prices were very competitive. Another really lovely hotel on our trip.

I’ve spent the last year travelling around the world and stayed in more than 60 places. This one made my top 4 of the whole trip. I don’t write many recommendations, but Tierra Del Mar really stood out. I’d spent 10 days at a beachfront family hotel before coming here. It was good, but the noise wasn’t great for me as a solo traveller. I happened to walk past Tierra Del Mar and look through its small door, and I’m glad I did. It’s an intimate place with just 8 rooms, and the beach is only a 1-2 minute walk away. I also liked its calmer energy compared with a busier beach. It’s listed as a 3 star hotel, but the service and quality of the whole place felt far above that. There aren’t many breakfast choices, but there are plenty of good cafes just a few minutes away, so that didn’t matter to me. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us, with great local food recommendations too.

The place is small, quiet, and beautifully located for walking wherever you need to go. The rooms are lovely, the beach is beautiful, and we had the great pool area to ourselves whenever we used it. There’s a bike hire place just around the corner, plus lots of breakfast and dinner options. The staff work tirelessly to keep everything spotless. A couple of things to know before booking: the toilet and shower aren’t in an enclosed room, so you’ll need to be comfortable sharing that space. There’s no fridge, which we would have found useful, though reception has chilled filtered water. Thanks for a great stay!

A great find in Isla Holbox. The atmosphere was excellent and everything was neat and clean. Israel and the team made us feel very welcome.
